Richard Evans CDG has been casting since 1989, and has since worked on a wide variety of productions in every media.   For the 10 years prior to this, he was an actor himself and therefore writes from knowledge and and experiences amassed on both sides of the audition table.   He is a member of The Casting Directors' Guild of Great Britain and Ireland.

As well as writing Self Taping: The Actor's Guide in 2014 and the revised edition in 2019, to help with the increasing frustration of performers simply not knowing what to do when asked to put themselves on tape, he has also written two editions of Auditions: The Complete Guide (Routledge 2014) and Auditions: A Practical Guide (Routledge 2009). Before writing his own book, he contributed 'A Casting Director's Perspective' to The Actors' Yearbook 2005 and has written many features and articles on audition technique and career development for newspapers and magazines. In addition, he has devised and presented audition and career development workshops at the Actors Centre, London and at many top drama and theatre schools worldwide, hosted live events for The Stage and Samuel French Ltd and led interactive workshops on self taping for The Actors' Guild and Surviving Actors.

As well as his work in casting, he is currently writing a new book, so watch this space!
